Skip the chit chat and let’s start with breakfast!

After having breakfast, today we planned to go on a city tour. We picked up a map from the hotel reception and decided to explore the city on our own. Surprisingly, we managed to reach our first stop on time and caught a bus that took us to our next destination. The bus was filled with people from different countries, which made the experience even more fascinating for me since it was my first time on a tour bus. There was a tour guide on board who was doing an internship in Santorini, and he did an excellent job of explaining each point of interest along the way. As we reached each stop, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty and history surrounding us. It was truly an amazing experience that I'll never forget.

Megalochori is truly a gem nestled in the heart of Santorini, offering a glimpse into the island's rich history and charm. As you wander through its winding streets, you'll find yourself transported back in time, surrounded by traditional homes adorned with volcanic rock walls that stand as testaments to the island's geological heritage.

One of the most enchanting aspects of Megalochori is its collection of stunning blue-domed churches, each one a testament to the village's deep-rooted spirituality and architectural splendor. These iconic landmarks dot the skyline, adding a sense of tranquility and grace to the village's picturesque landscape.

But perhaps what truly sets Megalochori apart are its intricate and beautifully crafted doors, each one a work of art in its own right. These old, unique entrances beckon visitors to step inside and explore the hidden treasures that lie beyond, promising an experience unlike any other.

As you meander through the village, you'll also encounter charming squares and traditional restaurants, where you can indulge in the flavors of Santorini cuisine while soaking in the laid-back atmosphere. And if you're feeling adventurous, you can even embark on a horseback ride through the village, immersing yourself in its timeless beauty at a leisurely pace.

In Megalochori, time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of your surroundings and the rich tapestry of history that envelops you. Whether you're admiring the unique architecture, savoring the local cuisine, or simply taking in the sights and sounds of village life, a visit to Megalochori is sure to leave a lasting impression on your heart and soul.

We set off by car towards Pyrgos Village, eagerly anticipating the picturesque journey that awaited us. Before reaching our destination, we made a delightful detour to Therasia Hill, where a designated selfie point beckoned us to capture the stunning surroundings. Amidst the serene landscape, we indulged in snapping numerous photos, each one a testament to the natural beauty of Santorini.

Upon our arrival in Pyrgos Village, we were greeted by its enchanting charm – a blend of history, culture, and breathtaking island views. As the largest preserved village on Santorini and the island's former capital, Pyrgos exuded an undeniable allure. Its winding streets and traditional architecture invited exploration, while the panoramic vistas from the hilltops left us awestruck.

Many visitors opted to rent cars or ATVs to navigate the village's narrow lanes and discover its hidden gems. However, we chose to meander on foot, immersing ourselves in the tranquil ambiance and soaking in every moment of this unforgettable experience.

The village was adorned with a myriad of inviting coffee bars and restaurants, each offering a feast for the senses. Whether sipping a freshly brewed cup of Greek coffee or indulging in local delicacies, every culinary encounter was accompanied by a mesmerizing backdrop of azure skies and azure seas.

Amidst the bustling activity, we encountered talented artists passionately creating works of art, their vibrant paintings adding to the village's allure. It was a testament to Pyrgos' status as a haven for creativity and inspiration.

Exploring the village's cobblestone streets, we discovered an array of artisanal shops showcasing exquisite crafts and souvenirs. From handcrafted pottery to intricate jewelry, each piece reflected the rich cultural heritage of Santorini, serving as timeless mementos of our visit.

As the day drew to a close, we reluctantly bid farewell to Pyrgos Village, grateful for the memories we had created and the beauty we had witnessed. It was an experience that surpassed all expectations, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts and minds.

After that, we went to wineries and I really liked the place because I love wine. Our group was given a table and we were served with four types of wine along with plenty of snacks. It was a lot of fun after drinking wine, all fatigue vanished. We also took a bottle of water from there and then we left.

Our last destination today was OIA. What a wonderful place OIA is! We arrived at the perfect time. It's famous for its white churches with bright blue domes and also for the sunset. OIA is the most beautiful village of Santorini. The sunset was about to happen when we arrived, probably the most famous sunset in the world. It is a synthesis of white-blue houses and churches, with pink and ocher details, 'hanging' on the caldera, composing a colorful canvas that is difficult to put into words. It is a rather peaceful and idyllic village that comes alive during sunset time. We found a place in a restaurant there and enjoyed the sunset with coffee. It was already 8 o'clock when we left, but its beauty was increasing. We also did some shopping there. An amazing day came to an end and we returned to the hotel.

Overall, it was a long and one of the most beautiful days of my life.
